FIlm Noir Speed Paintings

A few speed paintings to get a better understanding of value. I chose Film Noir scenes for shadows and lighting a lot funner than drawing apples and oranges instead! (All around an hour)

Dr Sketchy and Life Drawing Session inspired by Manrays Photography

A bit bored with the same old Life Drawing classes I decided to go on a search for something new.. First I went to The National Portrait Gallery were hosting an evening of Life Drawing based on the Photography of Manray. The class encouraged us to capture the essence of the poses in the photographs using the model and the lighting was specifically setup to help capture the moods and lighting of the compositions. Dr Sketchys was a different experience as the model was a professional burlesque dancer which meant some of the poses and themes were a bit out of the box! Interestingly enough in many of the poses we had to include narrative or integrate another character or try different drawing styles such as cubism this added interest but the poses were a little too fast!
